Cosmetology

1600 Clock Hours
The course of study consists of technical instruction and practical operations covering all practices constituting the art of cosmetology. Technical instruction includes demonstration, lecture, classroom participation or examination. Practical operations relates to the actual performance by a student of a complete service on another person or mannequin.

Full-time Program: 30 hours/week for 53.5 weeks
Tuesday – Friday 9:30 am to 5:30 pm

Part-time Program: 20 hours/week for 80 weeks
Tuesday – Friday 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm and
Saturday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm

As a Cosmetology student, your performance objectives are to acquire knowledge of:

• Laws and rules regulating California’s Cosmetology practices
• Sanitation and sterilization relating to all phases of hair, skin and nails.
• General theory related to cosmetology, including anatomy, physiology, chemistry and theory
• Business management technical skills common to cosmetology

The cosmetology course of study is designed to assist your capability to pass the Bureau of Barbering and Cosmetology licensing examination, which is required to obtain a Cosmetology License and operate as a cosmetologist in the state of California.

There are numerous career options open to you as a licensed cosmetologist, including hairdresser, esthetician, nail artist, colorist, makeup artist, fashion show stylist, beauty care marketing, photo and movie stylist, beauty products sales rep, educator/instructor, salon manager, salon owner…to name just a few.

Esthetician

600 Clock Hours
The course of study consists of technical instruction and practical operations covering all practices constituting the art of esthetics. Technical instruction includes demonstration, lecture, classroom participation or examination. Full-time Program: 30 hours/week for 20 weeks
Part-time Program: 20 hours/week for 80 weeks

As an Esthetics student, you’ll develop the following skills and learn:

• Proper use of implements relative to all esthetics services
• Knowledge of analyzing all skin types to determine proper analysis
• Procedures and terminology used in performing all esthetics services
• Application of daytime and evening makeup to include application of faux eyelashes
• Safety procedures of the use of electrical skin care machines
• Various massage techniques

The Esthetics course of study is designed to assist your capability to pass the Bureau of Barbering and Cosmetology licensing examination, which is required to obtain an Esthetics License and operate as an Esthetician in the state of California.
