Federico Students Visit Paris & Brussels
Federico Beauty Institute took nine students on a ten-day tour of Paris and Brussels this past autumn. The tour, sponsored by Pivot Point International, opened the students' eyes to new ideas and new cultures within the world of beauty.
Gary Federico, who owns Federico Beauty Institute, chaperoned the students, bringing along a tour guide from France. The students first visited Paris, seeing it from the upper level of a double-decker tour bus. The Eiffel Tower, Louvre Museum, and Palace of Versailles were the major highlights of the day.
The students also toured a number of different Paris salons, compliments of Pivot Point International. The students got an insider's view of the operations, learning how French and American salons compare. A Federico student named Kane Bratt found the most jolting difference was the age at which French students begin studying beauty -- as early as 12 years of age in some cases.
"They take it very seriously in France. Our stylists love their work and take it very seriously because they begin very early in life," Kane observed.
On the fifth day, they all got on a bus and went 160 miles north to the capital city of Belgium. When they arrived in Brussels, they went on a guided bicycle trip and tried out some of the globe's finest chocolate at Depla Pol.
The students enjoyed two days of learning at the De Ridder Salon & Academy when they stayed in Brussels. Top-notch instructors taught them the latest Belgian and European styles as well as new industry trends. William DiRidder, the owner and world renowned artist, also talked about his professional life and demonstrated some techniques.
"I learned from teachers from all over the globe. Due to the trip, I became aware of the large and diverse opportunities out there. It is my wish to travel the globe working in the beauty business someday," Madelyn Bingham said.
This was a once-in-a-lifetime journey for Federico Beauty Institute's up and coming stylists. Their total enjoyment of Paris and Brussels was that of tourists rather than just as beauty school students.
