Salon Symposium

Federico Beauty Institute is tireless in its goal to provide students with opportunities to network with professional stylists. Federico thinks that students should be educated in the classroom, and from the best in the field. Federico's Salon Symposium took place on November 5, 2009, showcasing Sacramento's top professionals.

The Salon Symposium night had hair professionals from Salon B, Rowena and Takashi, and AJF Salon. All of the salons offered first-hand demonstrations to the attendees. Students were able to inquire about styling techniques, meet stylists, and learn more about the different salons. Networking functions like this are essential in facilitating student liaisons with future employers in an informal yet informative setting.

Rowena, from Rowena and Takashi, completed the first presentation that night. Using a model from the salon, she demonstrated a show piece from the BIA International Hair and Fashion Exposition. Former Vidal Sassoon instructor, Rowena focused on the Vidal Sasson manner of hairdressing.

Beela Shaikh, from Rowena and Takashi, did an additional demonstration. Beela, a graduate of Federico Beauty Institute, is the salon's makeup director. Examples of runway and high fashion makeup were demonstrated on a second woman.

"Students are happy to see a successful Federico graduate who works in the beauty field. Beela really showed off the fantastic things a Frederico education can do for you," said the president of the school, Jeremy Federico.

The staff of Salon B performed the second demonstration that night. A salon presentation was given by owner Kathleen Clark, and stylist Avery, showing the viewpoint of prospective employees. They explained the daily functions of the salon, including how payments are handled. Students who are nearing their graduation date and will be seeking jobs soon, found the information helpful. Federico student Jen Steffens was selected from the crowd and had hair cutting methods performed on her.

AJF Salon concluded the event with a great finish, a presentation with participation by some Federico pupils. A round brushing demonstration was done by stylist Caitlyn. She described the various methods and effects that may be performed using round brushing. The demonstration focused on how to make dramatic, loose curls using just a hair dryer and a round brush. Students were permitted to go on stage during the demonstration and practice the techniques Caitlyn had shown.

Federico Beauty Institute is diligent and ceaseless in its efforts to place students with top quality beauty professionals. The newest project, Federico's Salon Network, launched at the Salon Symposium event.
